Fediverse@lemmy.world•What if we’re thinking about “Fediverse funding” the wrong way? (Non-crypto idea)English
11·1 month agoThen I guess that the term “Trade In” might be better.
As I mentioned in the post, it’s similar to how Pachinko Rules work.

13·1 month agoThe coins themselves don’t have any monetary value.
What you do is you purchase the amount that you want, on the platform server that you are planning on using them on.
Ie Peertube.
You would then tip / etc with them.
And then, the creators, etc. that you pay, would then be able to cash out those coins for real currency.

21·1 month agoIt wouldn’t just be for servers, but also for content creators (ie Peertubers), etc.
It could be used for tips, subscriptions, etc.

13·1 month agoYes they could.
It could potentially help Peertube creators, creators (eg Peertubers) etc.
It would allow them to make money, without having to use Crypto, etc.

2·3 months agoI don’t think that they are federated yet.
I found this under the “Panned” section
It’s the link labeled “Federation with other fediverse software”

Although I’m not sure how Discord style it will be if there is federation between Shoot instances

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Should Lemmy add a Modmail feature similar to Reddit's?English
1·7 months agoI’m surprised that they decided to host DM’s/etc. themselves, and not potentially integrate a protocol like Matrix.Org, XAMPP, etc.
Ik that Matrix allows user:
Clients
Bridges
Servers
Integrations
etc.

3·8 months agoWhat I was thinking was perhaps something similar to Lemmy, or Pixelfed, or etc., with instances hosted by different people?
Each instance could potentially host different user submitted gif types, i.e one instance would carry all sad gifs, another all happy, yet another all queer gifs, another all Harry Potter, etc., and users would be able to search through the entire platform using a united search, perhaps something similar to Peertube’s Sepia Search, that allows users to find the gif(s) that they are looking for.
