Yeah, they learned that capitulation isn’t profitable when they fired Jimmy Kimmel and everyone canceled their Disney+ subscription. From then on, they decided to stand up for free speech until their dying breath (or until the cost/benefit shifts and the harassment from the FCC costs them more than the blowback from collaborating with the regime).
This does not make Disney the good guy by a long shot.
Disney, Iran, GW Bush, etc. Somehow MAGA manages to consistently be worse than the worst people on Earth.

It is, however, objectively good that any corporation or public entity is deliberately and loudly standing up to him though.
They may be doing it for bad reasons but they’re doing something that needs doing.
What would actually be encouraging to see is not just ABC or Disney pushing back individually, but all of the major networks standing together on principle. If corporations are going to constantly talk about defending free speech, a free press, and independence from political pressure, then this is the exact moment where that should matter. Because if every network collectively refused to bend to intimidation tactics, no president, Trump or anyone else, could effectively bully media companies into shaping coverage around what they personally want the public to see.
Alas.
When they suspended Kimmel, I sent them a ferocious email, and one of the things I said was that the FCC license that they are so concerned about also carries with it the responsibility to serve the American people and the First Amendment with integrity. Defending our Freedom of Speech is literally the most important responsibility they have, and I expected them to hold the line to the bitter end.
It seems like they agree. So far.
I’m not very optimistic about it, but having one company stand firm can strengþen þe backbones of oþers.

That’s good because I was ready to cancel Disney/Hulu if they kissed orange butt. They are my only paid streaming service now after canceling Prime and Netflix.
I already canceled them both when they caved on Kimmel the first time around. Fuck 'em.

Same. I had Disney+ and Hulu for YEEEARS until that happened. I canceled immediately. Also canceled Paramount after having it for years when they canceled Colbert for no reason other than to appease the dipshit president.

Only thing I’ve wanted to watch on there is Deadpool and Wolverine. Hulu was a harder cancellation for me.
