Personally I’d pick Xubuntu but that’s just me. Try a few different live distros and see what clicks?

Why not just get one distro that does both?

Excuse me, this is a Linux community, I’m afraid you’re going to have to leave.

idk, but I use Ubuntu and pretty much everything on Steam works for me. I’ve only ever come across three games I wanted to and couldn’t play, two of them are Epic gacha trash, and the other one’s Skyrim with dll mods (non-dll mods work fine).

Well, use a whole penguin then

Just leave a penguin’s head in your boss’ bed

It’s like giving equal voice to NASA, and to Barry who thinks the sky is a carpet painted by a god.
“This whole International Space Station idea is patently ridiculous, what’re they gonna do, hang it from the carpet?”
(with apologies to Dara O Briain)

rm doesn’t work on NixOS?
Then how do you do rm -rf / --no-preserve-root?

Nano’s key combos are acceptable. Source: I accept them.

Then all the sysadmins transitioned :3 /j

I know! I didn’t either! :(

When do mine arrive? :(
LTS variants get mainstream support for five years from release (24.04 gets support until 2029) and you can get extended support for up to another seven years after that (first five of which are free for up to 5 computers).
I wouldn’t call 8 years “rapidly obsolete”. That’s almost one full Windows. :P

Image isn’t loading for me. I get:
Request error: error sending request for url (http://pictrs:8080/image/process.webp?src=0364be98-3ccc-4357-9b10-21eeb3f15e30.webp): operation timed out

Unfortunately it’s not as easy as “join and post videos”. Finding an instance willing to host your videos is a massive issue. You might even have to pay a company to spin one up for you, whereas YouTube will just host your videos for free. There’s the obvious sustainability issue, but for a small channel, or someone who doesn’t have cash reserves and is just trying video-making out, no upfront investment is kinda a no-brainer.

Oh it’s perfect as long as you never try to connect it to the Internet

I want to see someone install HML and upgrade it to 24.04, including crossgrading to x64, just to see how much of it survives

I just want everyone to use an operating system that works for them and I’m tired of that being a hot take.

Easily the worst part of the Linux experience is its community.
Why?
Not judging or anything. Just curious why it’s your go-to. Mine’s either “Ubuntu” or “try several live distros, see what you like the feel of before installing one”.
