I guess my combined 12TB across five drives ranging in age from 13 to six years old will have to suffice. The only reason I’d need to buy a new drive is if a couple of my current drives die. Which does happen on occasion, of course.

First they sell the fear, then they sell the “solution”. Poor on poor crime is down to record lows. What’s up is government crime on poors, that has skyrocketed.

All these cameras do for the people who paid for them is provide a memento of the thing being stolen from the front yard. If you think you’re going to show the video to a cop, and they’re going to say, “Hey! I know that guy!”, and then run off and retrieve your truck that’s too big to fit in your garage, you are sorely mistaken.

It was never about sound quality. Sound quality was the justification for spending money and showing off. Just like so much of consumerism.

I installed 64GB when I built my current rig five years ago, because I do (or, did) graphic design for a living and Photoshop will use all the RAM you can throw at it. I routinely worked on files in the 10GB size range, and sometimes larger. The RAM makes a big difference in how long filters take to render on such large image layers–from minutes, down to seconds.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I’ve never used it. I play around with a local installation sometimes, that’s the extent of my experience with AI.

Disable YT history. Make YT Subscriptions page your home page. Now all you see are the most recent videos from your subscribed channels. You can keep up with them without being distracted by garbage suggestions. It’s a much better experience.

My third display is a TV plugged straight into my Nvidia HDMI. It’s mounted on the wall above my other two monitors on the desk. I watch Jellyfin on it. I don’t watch broadcast, but that’s on a different input anyway. I’m wondering what issues you’re having. It just works on Mint.

I wouldn’t say “makes sense”, but I did get a bit more confident in tackling problems after a few successes using online help.

I also gave up on things I’d like to have after failures using online help, though.

While I’m guilty of sometimes stopping at the Google summary, which I see in Startpage searches, I usually do click through because the summary often doesn’t show what I want to know. Usually what I want to know isn’t the primary information, but something more obscure, or some possible connection.

It’s starting to feel like only old people look at a screen bigger than six inches. That, combined with displays becoming a commodity item, leads to the manufacturing being abandoned to commodity manufacturers. If Sony could bring anything of value that would justify the cost of holding on to this, they would. Sony’s name hasn’t been synonymous with quality for decades now, that’s partly their own doing through poor choices, but also the quality of cheap displays is perfectly adequate for most people.
