  • Doesn’t sound too insane except for the social contributions tracking and realtime dashboard. Maaaaybe all of the social data could somehow magically not end up as a ton of traffic just for metadata, but a realtime dashboard would exponentially exacerbate how much data would have to flow around.

It would be very unwise to make the gamification of financial support end up being a significant % of the overall traffic required to run a service, though I guess as long as it stays a low %, it could be worth it.

I used to GPU passthrough a 7900 xtx. Just pass through the whole PCIE device and don’t try to partition it or any fancy stuff. All that likely won’t work unless you have specific workstation cards, anyways. Just pass it through so the VM gets all of the gpu. Then, the only performance issues should come only from any tomfoolery with CPU settings or other performance settings like not having all the hardware virtualization hooks turned on.

Though fair warning: I had lots of odd issues, like the GPU not soft-resetting after crashes, and not being able to soft-reboot the VM. Because the commercial drives often do not have all of the power states and driver hooks necessary to totally reboot/etc while staying powered and attached to a bus.

  • Depends on the workload, really. 120 users using small services? probably. 120 users sharing large files or bandwidth heavy stuff? Doubt it. Also a lot of enterprise hardware is about reliability. Multiple PSUs, NICs, more robust hardware for constant load/network traffic, etc.

Sure, a gaming rig can handle it until it can’t. Another question is what happens when the box crashes? Is the business down until a new PC is built and restored from backups?

A small business can probably afford two PCs, but scaling up and up eventually becomes a lot of trouble and space.

    That was, in fact, wrong.

Just because there is a high priority present doesn’t magically make it ok to throw your humanity out the window… Why do I have to explain this!? Are you a sociopath?!

That ENTIRE SHOW was about how he had many chances to choose to not be a piece of shit. Every spiral was because of him. He is, in fact, a terrible person, and the fact you cannot understand that is concerning. Having one singular noble goal does NOT magically absolve him of all of his terrible decisions.
