Cool I might do that. I assume I can find a docker compose somewhere.
I use a self hosted pihole for DNS. It needs an upstream DNS server for resolving unchached dns’s. I have pihole point to quad9 then cloudflair then google then I have it point to a bunch of unfiltered DNS servers across the world.
I think we really should implement matrix as the private messaging for all fediverse services.

Not necessarily docker but gives a good vibe for self signed certs. Also i don’t see why u need encryption if ur only accessing ur data over local network (I presume via a vpn) its unnecessary unless ur worried about someone snooping packets on ur lan.
Personally I have my services available to the internet with a letsencrypt cert for a domain served via nginx that served my services at relevent routes. SSL isn’t really nessasary unless ur transporting across an untrusted network (such as the internet instead of over a VPN).
Hey u still use signal I’m not saying to stop using it I’m simply saying just cos its better than the alternatives doesn’t mean we shouldn’t demand better.
The signal encryption is provably secure that’s what the researchers analyse. The metadata is a separate story.
When they gonna allow sign up without a phone number. Or allow federation with 3rd party signal severs. Or allow sign up without a phone number that’s linked to ur real identity by law in most countries.
The more I learn about signal the less I trust them.
You will own nothing and be happy.
