  • Beyond prompting OpenAI to reconsider its release philosophy, Altman said that DeepSeek has pushed the company to potentially reveal more about how its so-called reasoning models, like the o3-mini model released today, show their “thought process.” Currently, OpenAI’s models conceal their reasoning, a strategy intended to prevent competitors from scraping training data for their own models.

    “In light of DeepSeek showing how straightforward the text we were hiding is, and because we actually don’t have much secret sauce, we’ll show you the text, now.

    But we’ll probally do the same thing again if we figure something new out. You can’t hold us to it.”





  • I question if we really need spaces like that anymore. But I see where you are coming from.

    I was definitely only thinking about social places like Lemmy and Discord. Not networking places like Facebook and LinkedIn.

    It really feels like there are zero solutions available. I’m at a point where I realize that all social networks have major negative impacts on society. And I can’t imagine anything fixing it that isn’t going back to smaller, local, and private. Maybe we don’t need places where you can expect everyone to be there.




  • I wasn’t aware there was a new wave of issues. This periodically happens every few years.

    This explains why recently I thought I slept through some alarms. I’ve had some rough sleep schedule issues recently, so it was easy to blame myself.

    Now I’m not so sure. This is like one of the few things an iPhone needs to do perfectly. Make emergency calls, and set off alarms. Both need to be perfect.

    It’s kinda fucked up that alarms are not under more scrutiny.
